3 YEARS IN VIGIL FOR THE PARISHIONERS OF ST. FRANCES X. CABRINI
THEY CONTINUE TO OCCUPY THEIR CHURCH 24/7 WHILE THEY CRUSADE TO KEEP THEIR CHURCH OPEN
AND PRAY FOR A MIRACLE
On October 26, 2004 the church of St. Frances X. Cabrini, Scituate entered a peaceful and prayerful vigil. During that same time the Boston Red Sox’s were fighting for a World Series berth, being down 3 games.
Now as the faithful of St. Frances mark their 3rd anniversary (or 36 months, or 1095 days, or 26,280 hours, or 1,576,800 minutes or 94,608,000 seconds) in vigil, they continue to man their church 24/7 with great faith and hope that that their church will remain open.
On Sunday, October 28th at 10:00A.M. parishioners of St. Frances X. Cabrini will gather as they do every Sunday morning but this Sunday will be extra special as it is a tribute to the unwavering resolution of dedication, faith, hope and love of the parishioners. This Sunday’s lay lead Communion Prayer Service will have even more meaning since it will be dedicated to their milestone of 3 Years in Vigil; representing that their church has been occupied by the faithful 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, never vacant during these 3 years, a true demonstration of immeasurable commitment by so many to protect their church.
As we know in 2004 the Red Sox experienced a miracle and 2007 may bring another. The faith community of St. Frances who began their vigil on October 26, 2004 after the Archdiocese of Boston tried to lock-up the church early but inadvertently left one door opened believe this was just another sign that their church should stay open, so they have hunkered down and have not left their church unoccupied since that first day as they to continue to pray for another miracle. Maybe 2007 will be their year?
